In an official statement released in Urdu on Wednesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) addressed the demonstrations that took place following the detention of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Pakistan. The ISPR stated that these protests specifically focused on military assets and facilities.

The military’s media division issued a firm statement, emphasizing that individuals would not be permitted to engage in vigilantism. Referring to the statement and legislation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the ISPR defended the apprehension of Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), according to the news article.

 After the arrest of Khan, there were orchestrated assaults on military properties and installations, accompanied by the chanting of anti-army slogans,” as reported by The Express Tribune. The military’s media wing condemned the demonstrators, denouncing their actions as an endeavour to exploit the nation’s sentiments for their gains. The military emphasized the significance of upholding law and order and underscored the necessity of respecting Pakistan’s institutions, as stated in report.

In a statement, the ISPR emphasized that the army’s response was instrumental in foiling attempts to exploit their actions for malicious political gains, as part of a strategic approach.

According to a statement by the ISPR, it acknowledged that certain leaders within the party were responsible for issuing orders, providing instructions, and orchestrating the entire plan. The ISPR stated that it has successfully identified those individuals involved in aiding, planning, and politically inciting the incident and assured that appropriate legal measures will be taken against them. The ISPR issued a stern warning, declaring that any future attacks on military and state installations would be met with strong and resolute action. 

Instances of attack and vandalism allegedly perpetrated by PTI workers have been documented in PAFMM Alam Air Base Mianwali, according to a tweet by The Pakistan Daily. Numerous instances of violent protests against the Imran Khan Arrest have taken place throughout Pakistan, including the residence of the Corps Commander in Lahore.
