Chhattisgarh News: Recent Chhattisgarh attack is the biggest attack by Naxals on the security forces in the past 2 years. The attack took place on the Aranpur road, approx. 50 km from the district headquarters when policemen were returning from an anti-Maoist operation, between 1 to 1.30 pm Wednesday, 26 April 2023.
In this terrifying attack, 10 policemen and one driver lost their lives when their minivan was blown up by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device).
The TV footage of the Chhattisgarh Attacks from the spot showed a huge crater about 10 feet deep, dividing the road at the site. The vehicle was brutally damaged in the Naxal attack.
The late policemen belonged to the District Reserve Guard (DRG). DRG is a special force of the Chhattisgarh Police consisting mostly of local tribals who have been specially trained to fight the Naxals.
The DRG has been instrumental in several successful operations against the insurgents in Bastar, the epicentre of Left-Wing Extremism.
The timing of the Chhattisgarh attack is similar to the Naxal’s annual strategy. Naxals conducts Tactical Counter Offensive Campaigns (TCOC) between February to June. The time period is chosen because during this time the military wing’s focus is on inflicting victims on security forces.
This period has been chosen because it becomes difficult to carry out offensive operations in the forests once the monsoon sets in July.

Last Words
The damage has been done, and our country has lost 10 brilliant soldiers in the attack. But for how long will Chhattisgarh suffer from Naxal attacks and tolerate their presence? It should stop somewhere, and Chhattisgarh should be rid of Naxal attacks. Let’s best hope that we won’t hear of any Naxalite attacks in the future.
